Shoe Shopping!

If you’re going to have a blog about shoes then it should of course be a requirement to buy new shoes. Any excuse for a new pair of shoes am I right ladies? My cousin just bought herself a pair of 5 toe shoes and was telling me how comfortable they are. I have wanted a pair of these for a while but didn't know anyone with them and I didn't want to be the first to try them. We have always been very much alike growing up and I guess we still are so I had to copy her and buy some. I ran to shoe depot and they only had one kind but they were purple so how could I resist. Oh and they were on sale! They are not, however, 5 toe shoes they are 4 toe shoes but I don't think my little pinky toe would know the difference. So here I am in the store trying on my new shoes which by the way are amazing. After working in heels all day they feel great on my feet. Now I just need the weekend to get here so I can wear them for something other than house shoes.

A Family of Shoes

The weather has been so amazing this week and with daylight savings its no longer dark when I get off work. This has allowed for lots of family time outside. We spent the entire evening outside again. We are going to need to put up more swings this year. Between the three girls someone was swinging the whole time. We planned to spend the evening doing lots of work but I think there was more playing and discovering than working. We found a frog which consumed everyone’s attention for quite a while. He looks a lot like the wood frog but those are very rare so we are hoping he will come back and visit again so that we can figure it out for sure. Anyway for tonight’s photo we have the entire family’s shoes to represent a fun family night.

Fun in the Dirt

Ok so if anything this blog is going to force me to learn how to use my camera better. This is our raised veggie garden and it was taken after the sun went down. We spent the evening cleaning up the back yard and tilling up the garden. I'm sure we still have a freeze or two ahead of us so we aren't planning just yet but it won't be too much longer. It is very hard to steady yourself enough to use a slow enough shutter speed for the dark and take a picture of your feet. Hopefully by the end of the year I can successfully do this and get a better picture.  These shoes by the way are now sitting on my front porch completely covered in mud. I guess I'll be spending part of my weekend digging dirt out of the tread. Note to self don't play in the dirt in your favorite tennys.

A Year In My Shoes

I have always wanted to do a 365 blog. I was too scared to give it a try though. After watching my cousin and lifelong BFF successfully do one last year I wanted to do one even more. The problem is a year is a long time and if I was going to do this I needed to have a plan. I knew it couldn't be a random picture each day because I would never be able to stick with that. I also knew that I couldn't do one of those blogs where you constantly change themes and have something specific to do each day or week. Those are just too much work and I knew if it couldn't be done in my everyday life it just wouldn't happen. Then just the other night I was outside sitting on my porch enjoying the evening after work with my family. I was editing photos and watching TV on my iphone while the girls were playing on the porch. I grabbed my camera to take a picture of something they were doing and for some reason I started goofing around taking random pictures (ok in all honesty this is pretty typical of me). I took one of my shoes and realized it had captured so much of life in one simple snapshot. It showed me enjoying the evening kicked back on the porch editing photos and watching saved by the bell. Yes I was watching Saved By the Bell. That’s Mr. Belding in the picture and just so you know its just as good today as it was 23 years ago. That’s when I realized this would be my 365 blog. I would take a picture of my shoes every day for a year. I would do my best to capture something each day to catch just a small glimpse of my life. From the awesome to the mundane. I'm fully expecting much more of the mundane than the awesome but even so I think it will be fun after a year to look back and see what I was up to. Its not so much about the shoes I wear but the places they travel and the road they take. I can't wait to see where they take me.
